The reason people stay on an email provider they dislike is almost never the software. It is the fear that somewhere in twelve years of mail there is a password reset, an invoice or a contract that will quietly stop arriving. True of every one of them
Nothing is moved or deleted. An import copies; the original mailbox is untouched, so there is no one-way door and no deadline. Contacts and calendars do not come across — IMAP carries mail only, so export them separately. And keep the old account: a dormant mailbox with forwarding on catches the long tail for years.
